West Coast Swing
West Coast Swing (WCS) is a versatile form of swing dance characterized by smooth, often sultry, movement and an elastic, stretchy connection between the partners. WCS can be danced to a variety of music genres including Jazz, R&B, Contemporary, Blues, Country, Pop, Rock, Funk and Soul. Because it is danced to so many forms of music, there is a high emphasis on improvisation and diversity of movement. Therefore. it requires a very sophisticated level of communication between leader and follower.
Anybody hoping to learn WCS would be best served by learning from professionals who specialize in this dance. DanceCraft owners, Jeremy and Traci, are active competitors on the WCS circuit and have developed what is now the most popular and effective series of classes in the Florida Panhandle, and Alabama and Mississippi Coasts. DanceCraft currently teaches group classes in WCS on Wednesdays and Sundays, and hosts the longest-standing WCS Social Dances every Wednesday night and the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month.
